International Women’s day, a day to celebrate social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. But it’s also a day that highlights the inequality for women in all types of businesses. The FinTech industry is no exception.
According to Findec (Sweden’s Hub for Fintechs), out of Sweden’s around 400 fintech companies only approximately 5% have a female founder. Unfortunately, the number is pretty much the same across the globe.
In 25 of the hottest FinTech companies in Sweden, together worth more than 100 billion SEK , women own only 0.8 % of the total value. This according to the Swedish news site Breakit that have recently written an article about this. Read the article in full here. We at Acuminor are happy that we are amongst those companies with a female co-founder, our colleague Andrea Sandlund. On March 11, Findec will host a webinar “Female Fintech Founders 2021” to highlight female founders, and to push for more initiatives. Sign up for the webinar here.
